Rugby Union: Northwich ease fears

ANY fears Northwich might have been harbouring about their Division Two West status were dispelled when they won 21-10 against New Brighton at Moss Farm.

A large crowd saw the return of the Blacks long-term injured duo Graham Robinson and Rick Smith and both played leading roles in a fine team effort.

The Blacks, have an open date on Saturday, with injured players, Jamie Miritana and Gary due to return against Chester on January 19.

Beaten 29-17 Lymm, Winnington Park breathed a sigh of relief when they heard Tyldesley had been thrashed 90-12 at Chester. Park have been badly short of points this season, but have yet to play Tyldesley and they did well enough against Lymm to suggest they could yet wind up in the comfort zone.

Park have no game on Saturday, but will be called in for training with vital games against Stockport and Leigh next on their agenda.
