WEST PARK only had themselves to blame at Rugby Lions allowing the Midlanders to score a vital try in the second period.
With new Rugby Manager Martin Strett on board the squad returned with just a losing bonus point and reflecting on missed chances and unfortunate mistakes.
Martin Strett is already convinced that few sides in National 3 North are privileged with safety at this stage of the season.
“I am fully aware that this is a tough league and we can take no game for granted. Everyone is capable of beating each other and the pressure is there all the time,” he commented.
Fortunately defeat last Saturday when a possible league double was on the cards has not seen an alteration in Park’s ninth position in the table.
With some respite from the league and the likelihood of the Merseysiders playing their round one in the Lancashire Cup against Vale of Lune at Red Rocks this weekend , there is every reason to believe that Coach Martin Jones now helped by former Orrell Coach Chris Chudleigh will be putting some hard work in to provide stiff opposition on January 19 when Morley arrive for a vital league encounter.
“Chris is slotting in well and will be a great asset,” Martin Jones commented.
“With his experience and local links with Liverpool University ,he should bring some extra strength to the Club at a time when we really want to move forward.”
