Blues don’t want sands of time to run out

NEW BRIGHTON are on a recovery mission on Saturday when they travel to Sandbach in North Two West.

The Blues have high hopes of figuring in the promotion equation, but hardly helped their cause with defeat at the hands of Northwich recently.

Chief coach Steve Dorrington has been working hard in training to right matters as the Blues did not have a league match last weekend.

The loss of scrum-half Mike Gallimore due to a broken leg is obviously a severe setback for the Hartsfield outfit and they could soon be without centre Chris Dale after his double yellow card in the Northwich game.

Gallimore is still in plaster and could be missing for the remainder of the season.

The Blues are not far off the pace in the table but Sandbach has become a must-win gam.

The experiment of playing Loa Topou as a centre was not a success at Northwich and he is likely to revert to back-row duty this time.

The recent departure of Gaz Simpson to Wirral did not help either and although he has since returned, he will not be available until Saturday week for the home clash with Lymm.

New Brighton have recruited full-back Gareth Jones from Oswestry and hooker Jonathan Roberts from Parkonians, but they are also not qualified for Saturday.

Meanwhile, general manager Guy Hughes suffered a loss when a valuable laptop and equipment were stolen on Saturday while he was watching the Birkenhead Park v Luctonians cup match. Anyone with any information should contact Guy at the club.
