Hoylake win derby

THE games that survived the wet weather last week included the South Lancashire/Cheshire Onederby, where Anselmians’ 13-6 win at Hoylake lifted them off the foot of the table.

Sean Hastewell scored the only try and Chris Wells added the conversion and two penalties.

Wirral’s slide continued in a 28-7 loss at Sale. Craig Harvey added the goal to an Ian White touchdown.

Collegiate, in Division Two, lost 26-6 against Orrell Anvils while Southport claimed a somewhat ill-tempered affair against Wallasey 19-17. Wallasey had two men dismissed but scored late tries from Ben Edwards and Craig Moule plus a Paul Lewis conversion. Southport managed just one converted try but four penalties.

Parkonians fell 25-0 against Trentham in Division Three and Eagle 27-10 in the Isle of Man against leaders Douglas. Division Four saw Port Sunlight beat Merseyside Police 8-0 and Capenhurst lose to St Mary’s 18-8. In North Lancs One Birchfield lost 16-15 to Heaton Moor.
