DESPITE A wholehearted performance, LSH eventually succumbed to unbeaten North One leaders Kendal.
In a game overshadowed by a serious ankle injury to Kendal centre Rainier Bester, the visitors proved too strong.
After an even opening spell, Kendal went ahead in the 13th minute with a catch and drive try from lock forward Liam Hayton. LSH went close following good work from Mike Hebden and Martin McGeough before Bester’s injury in the 33rd minute. The game was held up for more than 30 minutes and the players were taken to the dressing room while the South African was taken to hospital.
After the restart, the game reached half-time with Kendal 5-0 in front, extended to 8-0 with a penalty from Dan Stephens two minutes into the second half. LSH again pressured the visitors and were stopped short of the try line on three occasions before Kendal flanker Andrew Hudson scored from yet another catch and drive.
A late penalty and a last-minute try flattered the league leaders, leaving LSH with a mountain to climb if they are to survive.
