West Park: Jones still wary of the drop

IT looks as if West Park are to go the distance before Head Coach Martin Jones can allay any fears of relegation.

”We are just not helping ourselves,” Martin Jones said after last Saturday’s nail biting draw against Morley at Red Rocks.

“This was yet another game we let slip through too many silly mistakes. We should never have been 29-8 down leaving so much to do in the last quarter. But to be fair we fought back.

“Credit to the lads and especially Mark Turner, Stephen Briers and Dave Cunliffe for grabbing late tries. The three points gained keeps us above the relegation zone.”

This Saturday West Park entertain strugglers Beverley at Red Rocks- certainly a must-win contest that could provide some degree of comfort.

Unfortunately skipper Stephen Briers is unavailable along with Neil Ryan but at least there is good news about injuries to Matt and Mark Williams and both should be eligible for the starting frame.
