Waterloo suffer defeat

THE loss of outside-half Alex Davies after just 10 minutes with a recurrence of a hamstring injury proved crucial as Waterloo went down in the National Three North at Redruth.

By then Waterloo were already 12-0 in arrears as the Cornish side had crossed for tries through Craig Bonds and Arthur Meredith with Luke Cozens adding a conversion and a later penalty to extend the lead to 15-0.

Waterloo threw themselves a lifeline with a try from Luke Stringer, the scrum-half benefiting from a powerful catch and drive after Jonny Lowden had driven a penalty to within five metres.

Redruth hit back early in the second half with a try from Tim McBride with Cozens again successful with the conversion. With eight minutes left replacement David York claimed a try after the pack had driven over.

WATERLOO: Lowden, Dodd, Young, Duffy, Mazzucato, A Davies, Stringer, J Hall, Ince, Jones, Nugent, Davidson, T Davies, Bradley, D Hall Rep: Ormesher, Pani, York, Gee.
