West Park’s fears eased

WEST PARK’S narrow win over Beverley may not have been a pretty sight at times but the points gained certainly have given the Merseysiders some breathing space nine points above the drop zone in National Three North.

With just eight league commitments remaining head coach Martin Jones is able to relax but remain mindful of the dangers of complacency at this stage.

“Understandably we would have wanted a better performance at the weekend but the win has done a lot for us.” he said.

“We are well aware that any side can beat another in our league which makes the battle at the top and bottom all that fascinating.

“If we have been frustrated at times it is because we have let games slip that we should have won and we would have ben in a much healthier state now.”

This coming Saturday West Park skipper Stephen Briers returns for the long trip to promotion favourites Tynedale. There is still doubt about the availability of stand-off Neil Ryan.
