Chester in control

CHESTER put on a dazzling show to destroy Basingstoke and move into the last four in the EDF Energy Intermediate Cup.

It took Chester just 60 seconds to register their first try through Simon Verbickas. He added two more before half-time with Gareth Martin and Matt Bellamy also crossing.

Chester, with James Farrell and Tom Foden prominent at half-back, stretched to 37-0 as Simon Abeiro and Farrell breached the London side’s defence with Foden landing one conversion. There was no let up by the home outfit with Liam Lawton and Ross White going in for further tries and Foden each time adding the extras.

After Basingstoke’s try Chester had the last say with Matt Sheen adding their tenth try.
