NEW BRIGHTON registered their 11th North Two West success at the weekend but the chance of a play-off spot is now remote.
The Blues are eight points behind leaders Chester and six behind second-placed Stockport. But they will keep going to the end although head coach Steve Dorrington knows realistically they are now looking to next season to regain their North One status.
The latest 33-0 success at bottom of the table Tydesley was obviously predictable. Tries came via Alistair Child, Paul Campbell, Kati Tuipulotu, Gareth Jones and John Brotherton with Stephen Dean successful with four of the conversions.
“We got to grips with the difficult conditions with the forwards controlling the proceedings and there was always only going to be one outcome – although Tyldesley to their credit never gave up,” said Dorrington.
Next up is the visit of Chester on Saturday and certainly the Hare Lane side will not be relishing the prospect.
There will be U15 county action at Hartsfield tonight. Cheshire and Lancashire meet in a B team game at 6pm followed by an A team encounter at 7.30pm.
On Sunday the Blues host Cheshire U20, who take on Yorkshire U20 at 2.15pm.
