Pressure on for Park

AFTER being thrashed 43-17 at Vale of Lune, Winnington Park know only three wins in their last four games – or last minute changes to the promotion and relegation situation by the RFU administrators – can preserve their North Division Two West status.

One of only two teams they had beaten all season, the Lancastrians were too strong for a Park side weakened by the loss of young kicker Ben Elliott, who has broken his leg in a second XV game and will not play again until next season.

With only five points from their 18 games, Park have yet to play promotion-chasing Broughton Park at Burrows Hill next Saturday, then after a two-week break they host Northwich on March 29 and New Brighton at home on April 12 before winding up their campaign with a visit to Rochdale on April 19. “We need to win our three home games,” said skipper Mark Patterson.
