Survival bid on for LSH

AFTER last Saturday’s dramatic win at Altrincham Kersal, Liverpool St Helens continue their quest for North One survival this weekend, hosting Middlesbrough.

The odds are still stacked against them but if their continued effort and determination produces close-fought wins, as on Saturday, as opposed to narrow losses, as on countless other occasions this season, then anything is possible.

Head coach Paul Woodward was delighted with the result but was quick to praise the commitment of his team. “The defence was magnificent,” he said. “We gave them nothing and took our chances when they came.

Mark Dickinson will return from a hand injury this weekend and will partner his ex-Tyldesley team-mate Ashley Worsfold, scorer of Saturday’s last-gasp try, in the centre. The pair have been an undoubted bonus at Moss Lane this season.

Meanwhile, the spring-like signs of LSH’s junior section continue to emerge at Moss Lane.

Following on from the fully-established teams at every age group from U7-U13 the newly-formed LSH U15s played their first match last Sunday, narrowly losing 17-14 to Tarleton U15s.

Arrangements for the annual LSH Easter rugby camp are under way, taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 25-26.
