WATERLOO are through to the final of the Lancashire Cup following a 16-48 seven try thrashing of National Three North outfit Fylde at the Woodlands Memorial Ground last Saturday.
Fylde threw everything into the opening half with a try from Dave Wiseman converted by John Armstrong giving the home side a 7-0 lead after just five minutes. A penalty apiece from Wiseman and Armstrong extended that to 13-0 before a tries from Steven Dodd, a positive run down the touchline and Jon Nugent, the beneficiary of a drive over the line by the pack brought Waterloo into the game 13-10 at the break.
Two penalties by Davies gave the visitors a 13-16 lead with a neat pass to send Neil Kerfoot over for a try proving the real turning point. A penalty and a try for Chris Parrott, set up by Davies, emphasised Waterloo’s dominance. Davies slotted the conversion and it was a neat chip over the defence by the outside half gathered by Dodd that sent Mazzucato in for a fifth.
Waterloo were playing entertaining rugby. James Gee and Chris Wolfenden added further tries with the indomitable Davies slotting a final conversion.
