JUST one point above the National Three North relegation zone West Park face a crucial few weeks if they are to maintain their status as a National League side.
From being 10 points clear a few months ago they have seen that advantage ‘whittled away’ with a series of below par performances.
Where once confidence was beginning to build, injuries to key players, particularly Rob Hitchmough and the loss of prop Liam McLaughlin to Preston Grasshoppers which has left the front-row short on adequate cover has caused problems.
No-one can fault the squad’s commitment but harnessing that to a winning formula on the field must be a worry for head coach Chris Chudleigh.
“At the moment salvation is in our own hands,” Chudleigh explained. “If we win our next three games we stay up if we don’t we are reliant on what happens with the teams below.”
