Caldy fail to tame the Lions

CALDY’S first ever visit to play Rugby Lions was set to be an exciting affair with the teams sitting in fifth and sixth respectively and it was the hosts who edged it 16-11.

Elsewhere, Caldy third XV won 49-5 against Wirral with Matt Allan (2) and John Close among the try scorers. Special mention to Rich Carson who played the last quarter of the game for Wirral due to injuries and scored their only points of the day with an unconverted try.

With a number of the minis and juniors away on tour this weekend, the under-16s took centre stage on Sunday and beat a strong Lymm side 13-5 with tries from Matt Boon and Steve Daley and a penalty from Jack Lavin. This weekend sees Caldy Lions host Lymm, and the match should be well supported as the First XV have a well deserved rest ahead of the last two games of the season. The third XV also have a week off.
