AFTER the disappointing defeat at Blaydon, Waterloo aim to hit back against the Westcombe on Saturday.
Waterloo’s pack dominated the play in their previous 22-22 draw but with home advantage this time, they will hopefully be able to bounce back from their Blaydon defeat.
Waterloo’s pack has been far less impressive than their backs. The lengthy absence of skipper and prop Martin O’Keefe has been a major problem. In fact they did better in their previous meeting with Westcombe than on most other occasions, so hopefully they will be able to hold their own again on Saturday and give people like Alex Davies, a few chances to show just what they can do.
If they can claim the win they should be capable of following up by beating bottom club Halifax next week, then they would be able to go into their final League game against leaders Otley in just the right mood to end the season on a high note.
And that, in their current overall situation, is extremely important.
As things stand, they look sure to avoid relegation, but would certainly prefer to finish the season rather higher up the Division Two table than they are at present.
