Winnington Park: Patterson still upbeat

RELEGATION from North Two West means Winnington will be operating at their lowest-ever level next season in South Lancs/ Cheshire One, but captain Matt Patterson has called for a big effort when they host New Brighton on Saturday.

Patterson said: “We’re a bit battered and bruised and relegation is a tough pill to swallow.

“But we have some bright young players and if we can stay together, I’m sure we shall bounce back.”

Officials have said the club’s current problems dampen the occasion when they stage their big Centenary Banquet later in April.
