NEW BRIGHTON stage their annual Dinner tonight at Hartsfield ahead of their final game of the season at home to Broughton Park on Saturday.
It has certainly been a mixed season although they will probably finish among the top four in North Two West which is by no means disastrous but short of their expectations.
Broughton Park look set to miss out on a pay-off place behind champions Chester and runners-up Stockpot.
New Brighton in their penultimate outing ran out easy winners at relegated Winnington Park. It finished 52-12 as the Blues ran in seven tries. One of them was credited to Mike Gallimore who went on as a replacement in his comeback game after recovering from a broken leg.
Others to go in for the Blues were Sean Ellis, Kati Tuipulotu, Phil Buckley, Alistair Child, Wayne Clayton and Joe Bowmer.
Stephen Dean enjoyed a 100% kicking return with all seven conversions plus a penalty.
Rumours have been circulating over a possible cash injection next season and the recruitment of star players and it will be interesting to see if any announcements are made at tonight’s annual get together.
Former player Geoff Jones will be the guest speaker and various awards will be made including Clubman of the Year, Player of the Year and Most Promising Newcomer.
Skipper Tuipulotu must be high on the list for an award after an outstanding contribution on the field of play.
