A BUMPER crowd saw Caldy produce a 43-23 win against Morley to claw out of the relegation zone as Matt Holt played his last home game.
It was a Saturday of celebration as players from the past gathered for the Annual Past Captains and Players Dinner and the crowd were treated to an excellent game of rugby as Caldy move into fifth.
Former Leeds and Waterloo front row player, Holt, who is a tight-head prop of such quality never seen at Paton Field before, said: “It has been an honour and a pleasure to be involved with Caldy.
“What we have achieved in the last couple of years rates as highly as other achievements I have gained in my career. I am looking forward to coaching the same group of lads into next year’s competition, they are a great bunch of lads.”
Matt led the team onto the field and was met by a guard of honour from the under-8s squad.
Next weekend, sees the First XI travel away to Hull Ionians for their final game of the season.
Holt said: “We are expecting a tough last game against Hull but are looking to continue our good performances leading into next season.”
On Sunday, Caldy U15s girls played their first ever game losing to Colwyn Bay by six tries to three while the U12s Cheshire Cup Competition at Paton Field saw Chester draw with Altrincham Kersal 7-7 in the Cup Final and in the Plate Final, Lymm were the victors.
