Anselmians made to wait

ANSELMIANS must sit it out on Saturday and hope the failings of others will ensure their South Lancs/Cheshire One League survival.

They are third bottom but have a better points difference than Aspull and Ruskin Park who face must win re-arranged games at home to Burnage and Sale.

Anselmians will certainly hope to retain their current status. Simon Mason is moving from Caldy to take charge next season and he should have a big impact. Mason will hope to play provided he makes a full recovery after suffering a double fracture in a recent Caldy second team game (see above).

Wilmslow and Burnage are the two clubs promoted from Division One.

Hoylake and Wirral finished the season on a bright note. Hoylake beat Ruskin 44-7 and Wirral came away 19-13 to the good from Wigan.

Sefton just miss out on promotion from Division Two despite a last match win 8-6 over Southport.

Other scores included champions Dukinfield 38-10 against Ormskirk; who go down with Oldershaw 18-5 against Crewe & Nantwich; Oswestry beat Wallasey 26-22; Oldershaw drew with Ashton-on-Mersey 0-0 and Orrell Anvils won 13-11 against Warrington.

Prenton won the Division Three derby at Parkonians 14-8, but both clubs face relegation.

There were defeats for Ellesmere Port, 24-5, at Holmes Chapel, St Edwards, 22-10, at Newton-le-Willows and Mossley Hill, 43-2,3 against Trentham but Eagle won 28-32 at Moore while in North Lancs One Birchfield edged out Burnley 15-14.
