Good end for Caldy’s Holt

CALDY can be more than proud of an excellent fifth National Three North position finish thanks to an excellent run of form that has seen them win five out of the last six games of the season.

It seemed to be a step too far for the Caldy against Hull Ionians but Caldy helped player-coach Matt Holt sign off in style with a 21-11 win.

He said: “The first team squad has been tested to its limits this season through injuries and illness and some 45 players have worn the first team shirt and all have done it proud. What a season we have had and I am looking forward to next season with relish.”

The seconds were involved in a scrappy game with Macclesfield at Paton Field and were eventually beaten 15-8.

The third team could not complete their fantastic run with an 8-5 loss to Liverpool St Helens.

The only game this Saturday sees Caldy Lions complete their Premier Division campaign at Sedgeley Park.

Caldy hope to retain most of the squad that played Macclesfield.
