Northwich plan for future after securing North Two West future

AFTER winning their final game 22-16 at Leigh, Northwich heard the welcome news that relegation rivals Vale of Lune had lost 26-15 at Sandbach.

These results mean Northwich will play North Two West rugby in 2008-09.

Recording their fifth win in the final six games, Northwich delighted their followers with some fine attacking rugby in the last two months of the season. But it is likely Northwich will recruit new talent during the summer because they do not want to go through such agonies again, especially after the contrast with 2006-07 when they won the EDF Energy Vase at Twickenham.

One player Northwich will be hoping to retain is Australian Stacey Hosking, whose return to form and fitness was the key to the Blacks’ revival.

Paul Reid’s squad now have a break before taking on Sandbach in the final of the Cheshire Vase at Winnington Park on May 5, a match expected to attract a large crowd.
