Naylor: We will come back stronger than ever

AFTER avoiding relegation by winning their final North Two West game at Leigh, Northwich are able to lay plans for 2008-09 when they are determined not to remain among the strugglers.

Chairman Colin Naylor said “It was our fifth win in six matches at Leigh and that is the type of form which reflects our true strength.

“I can assure our supporters we shall have a stronger team next year when we shall be going for promotion from North Two West.”

Two players Northwich will be hoping to retain are Australian Stacey Hosking, whose return to form and fitness was the key to the Blacks’ revival in March and April and another overseas star in half-back Jamie Miritana, who was an inspiration when free from injury.

Despite losing their final game 30-10 at home to Aldwinians, Northwich’s second XV did well in the Miller Homes League and finished a creditable third, behind Buxton and champions Sale seconds.

Paul Reid’s senior squad take on Sandbach in the final of the Cheshire Vase at Winnington Park on Bank Holiday Monday, May 3, a match expected to attract a large crowd.
