Patterson’s Park goal

AFTER their Centenary season ended with the disappointment of relegation to South Lancashire & Cheshire Division One, Winnington Park captain Mark Patterson has vowed that the club will bounce back.

He put a brave face on the situation after a 41-0 defeat at Rochdale in their final North West Two fixture, emerging to issue a rallying cry: “Our young team has found it tough against strong opposition and most of us are glad the season is over.

“I hope the experience stands our promising young players in good stead for next season when we shall be fighting to get our place back.”

The entire Park squad has given Patterson an assurance that they will be staying, but the committee are nevertheless hoping to strengthen several positions.

Park’s successful Colts team beat Leigh 13-12 to win a thrilling Halbro Cup semi-final and coach Richard Elliott’s team were due to take on Mold at Sandbach. Winnington are also through to the final of the Cheshire Colts Shield and play Altrincham Kersal on Sunday, May 4, also at Sandbach.
