Colts fail to lift gloom

THERE was no consolation for Winnington Park at the end of a disastrous Centenary season which saw them relegated to South Lancashire & Cheshire Division One for the first time.

The Colts team had provided glimmers of hope, coach Richard Elliott bringing on a group of promising young players. But after losing 32-0 to Mold in the Halbro League Bowl final, Park went down 52-6 margin to Altrincham Kersal in the Cheshire Cup final.

On a more positive note, talented first team kicker Ben Elliott made a comeback in these two games after breaking a leg mid-season and is expected to be fully fit and for the start of the season.
