A DISAPPOINTING campaign for Cheshire culminated in them being relegated from the top group of the RU County Championship but they are confident they will be able to bounce straight back next season.
Certainly little went right for Cheshire in their three matches which brought defeats at the hands of Yorkshire, Lancashire and finally Warwickshire at Coventry.
Cheshire felt they were denied at least a draw against Lancashire by a poor conversion decision and they were certainly not helped by some below par refereeing against Warwickshire after being hit by late withdrawals from their squad.
It finished 31-8 in the end to the home county but they just missed out on a place in the final at Twickenham.
Ian Murray scored a try and Gareth Wynne a penalty in a strong third quarter but then it all went wrong in the last 20 minutes.
Cheshire will now be in the Championship Shield next season.
They won it in 2005-06 and aim to do so again to get back in the top tier with Lancashire and Yorkshire and others for the 2009 championship.
