Crashing out Plate

A DISAPPOINTING start to the season for Collegiate as they fell in the first round of the Lancashire Plate to Ashton Under Lyne, who they had beaten in the exact same fixture last year.

The Ashton forwards dominated proceedings and prevented Collegiate from obtaining good possession and using their much livelier backs.

Youngster Rob Connolly secured a consolation try in what proved to be a frustrating outing for the Blues.

Collegiate have a bye in the first round of the EDF Junior Vase but hope to get back to winning ways in their first league game against Newton-le-Willows on September 13.

The 2nd XV begin life in Miller Homes Five West on Saturday against Tyldesley and have high hopes of achieving a good league placing.

The Ladies, freshly promoted to North One, start their campaign on the September 21 against Leos.
