LIVERPOOL ST HELENS’ unbeaten run came to an end at Broughton Park last Saturday and Martin Jones’ side will be more determined than ever to return to winning ways this week.
The club breaks new ground this Saturday with the first ever league encounter against Burnage, a side very much on the up, having made steady progress over the past five seasons. The Heaton Mersey outfit have made an impressive start to their North One West campaign, registering five wins so far, including an opening day success against Northwich who then went on to beat LSH at Moss Lane.
LSH will be without Matt Cunliffe, stretchered off at Broughton Park with a knee injury, whilst impressive and influential flanker James Cashman is likely to be out for some time with a shoulder injury picked up against Altrincham Kersal.
Jones said: “ We’ll keep doing the same things, no problem, but I’m looking for more individuals to impose themselves physically on the game, particularly at the breakdown.
“Burnage have already shown what they can do and we will, as always, prepare thoroughly for a tough encounter.”
