LOCAL RUGBY UNION: Massive task for Waterloo director of rugby Steve Moore

FOLLOWING a devastating defeat to Macclesfield, Waterloo director of rugby Steve Moore has the massive task of lifting his side before they take on Caldy at Blundellsands this Saturday.
With a forward pack whose average age was only 20 it was not surprising they were unable to hold the juggernaut ‘Macc’ pack, a problem that has been prevalent throughout the season.
No one can fault the commitment of the players but that can never compensate for a lack of physical presence and the necessary experience which a few ‘old heads’ would bring.
In the circumstances Moore is doing a good job and the club would be wise, as well as re-signing the obvious talent, to hang on to the former Welsh international.
Some good news for the club is that they have secured a sponsorship deal with JC and JS Courier Services.
Sale Sharks scrum-half Dwayne Peel has signed a new two-year deal with the club, but captain Dean Schofield will leave at the end of the current season and will join French club Toulon on a two-year deal. Sharks’ lock James Gaskell and prop Lee Imiolek have been named in the England U20s 26-man squad.
