WATCH out Europe, here we come.
Everyone seems to scratching their heads this week and wondering how Everton, who it’s pretty much agreed have failed to play anything like as well as they can, find themselves in seventh spot in the league table.
Closer examination of the Premier League table obviously reveals that the Blues are five points behind sixth-placed Hull City and only six points above rock bottom Tottenham, but still it’s an indication of just how mediocre the top flight has become that there are presently 13 teams who have played worse than Everton thus far.
Not that any of us are complaining, of course.
David Moyes’s men have hardly been scintillating since that rousing comeback against Manchester United, but still they’ve done what was asked of them at the start of last week and took all six points against Bolton Wanderers and Fulham.
The performance levels in both games rarely rose above average, but at least the players have to be applauded for keeping going until the final whistle and snatching a pair of late wins.
Obviously we’d prefer to be coasting against sides like those, but it’s a case of beggars and choosers at the moment and it was nice to break the Goodison jinx as well as see Louis Saha off the mark.
