GREAT to see Super League back. I like rugby, both codes – but have a soft spot for league.
I admire the way the sport continually tries to improve itself for player and spectator alike.
It is fast, fierce and family friendly.
It has also benefited enormously from the huge enthusiasm shown it by the Sky Sports team who produce and present it. Sometimes, in truth, that means over-stepping the line of objectivity about their sport but in a way that is almost endearing.
Mind you, over the weekend even their dedication to the cause was severely tested by one of their new innovations, the Margin Meter – essentially a score predictor.
One by one the Sky on-screen team gently distanced themselves from its errant forecasts. And, as the man who helped introduce the short-lived ‘Tactics Truck’ to an agog football public, I predict the Margin Meter just might meet a similar end!
