WELL now we know, Elton John was wrong when he claimed that sorry seems to be the hardest word.
After apologies from across the park via Suarez and Dalglish, at the School of Science we have had two from Roberto Mancini and Andre Villas-Boas both apologising after under estimating Everton in recent games.
In the space of 10 days two of the richest football clubs in the world have come to Goodison with vastly expensive squads and been sent packing by simply being out fought and out run by a rejuvenated Blues side.
Why did Mancini and AVB not take us seriously? Well if they watched us before the turn of the year you could see reasons why.
But this is Everton. Minimum with a Moyes side is that they give you 100% and with the addition of Pienaar and Donovan we now have a creative outlet too.
Chelsea could simply not cope with the little South African and he oozed quality, torturing Bosingwa throughout. The goal after only four minutes set the tone of the day with Pienaar muscling his way into the box before firing past Cech. Everton didn’t just out-muscle their opponents, they outplayed them for long periods.
Feed the Straq and he will score came one shout from the Gwladys Street End – with it only being his second goal for the club, it may be premature to think he can match the Yak but he shows the passion every week which every fan asks for and wants from an Everton striker.
His goal during the second half was greeted by every team-mate apart from Phil Neville showing their pleasure by congratulating the Argentine, who has become a fans favourite in just weeks.
When you think our club captain, who has produced seven years of tireless service for the club, is still waiting for that admiration from the supporters it just shows. Fans are quick to jump on Neville’s back when he misplaces a pass, or a cross doesn’t find its target. Groans echoed around the ground during the first half when he accidentally clattered into Howard which could have proved costly.
