FORMULA ONE has its critics, not least those who believe it’s nothing more than cars going round and round a track after which a German invariably wins.
As opposed to football, which is lots of men running around chasing a ball of air after which Germany invariably wins.
Anyway, an exciting season reached a satisfyingly frenetic conclusion at the weekend with Sebastian Vettel eventually winning his third successive championship.
It’s still a bit early to say whether Vettel should be regarded as one of the greatest drivers ever. But, at just 25, he has plenty of time to win over the doubters.
Lewis Hamilton, however, may wish he could turn back the clock to reverse his decision to leave McLaren just at the moment they appear to have finally got their act together.
There’s no doubt McLaren’s loss will be Mercedes’ gain. But, for Hamilton, the concern it will be his loss too.
