THE signing of Johnny Heitinga would complete a very good transfer window for Everton in my opinion.
Replacing Joleon Lescott was never going to be easy but the money they got for him has enabled David Moyes to boost his numbers – with the right sort of players as well.
Sylvain Distin was a good piece of business because he knows the Premier League so well after the amount of clubs he has played for.
So there’s no problem with him having to settle in and get used to it, he can just slot straight in and play his game.
And I believe Heitinga would be that kind of player as well.
I was doing co-commentary on the Atletico Madrid v Panathanaikos Champions League game last week and he looked a very steady defender.
Just the sort of unflustered individual that seems to have been round the block enough to cope with the hectic English style.
And the fact that he plays in a city with two fierce rivals means that he would know what Merseyside was all about.
