Mark Lawrenson: I’m happy to see Tranmere Rovers FC trust in Parry

IT’S nice to hear some good news in this day and age as regards managerial jobs.

So I want to wish Les Parry the best of luck and say how happy I am that he has been kept on as manager until the end of the season at Tranmere.

He has had some good results and long may it continue.

What I think has helped him is he knows the club so well and I think being the physio has actually been a great assistance.

The physio is the one who knows the players’ mental strengths, which ones can take the pain and which ones have to be nursed.

It gives a good insight into personalities and that can sometimes be half the battle when you’re trying to pull a team together.

I also like that fact that he still he won’t go into the manager’s office, he still works from the physio room. In the world we live in now it’s great to see thee’s no ego involved.

But there is one important thing that I would like to see happen – whether Les gets the job or not he should be guaranteed to keep his physio job.
