Mark Lawrenson: Arsenal starting to look a good bet for title

I’M feeling more and more confident about my 10-1 bet on Arsenal to win the Premier League.

I took that price after Chelsea beat them at Stamford Bridge, another game that emphasised how, over 90 minutes, they struggle to live with the top two.

But now we’re at the business end of the season they are suddenly starting to look confident and comfortable – when they get a chance to top the table they are generally taking it.

And the run-in is unbelievable. Apart form Tottenham away, you can sit down now and say that they could win every game.

The main thing that conts against them is the Champions League draw as two legs against Barcelona could really take its toll.

But what convinces me most about their credentials is what I watched on Saturday when I was preparing for my analysis slot on Match Of The Day.

They were 1-0 up at home to West Ham when Thomas Vermaelen was harshly sent off.

Song dropped back in to cover in defence and they went 4-4-1.

But because their players are so good at keeping the ball, it didn’t make a bit of difference and they remained in control. They looked like they had 12 players instead of 10.

And they look like a team who believe they can do it.
