Curran pens new three-year contract
TRANMERE ROVERS have tied up the future of striking prospect Craig Curran until 2010.
The 17-year-old signed a new extended contract last night and manager Ronnie Moore said: “This shows how important it is to us to keep our best young players at the club.”
Curran, a product of Tranmere’s youth development system, made a spectacular arrival on the first-team scene last season. He scored with the first touch of his home debut against Brighton in April and notched a first half hat-trick in the final League One game against Brentford a month later.
Curran said: “I am really pleased to have signed this new contract. Last season was fantastic for me. Being involved with the first-team was amazing and hopefully I can do even better this season and score more goals.”
Moore added: “I am delighted Craig agreed to extend his contract. He is a very talented, versatile young centre forward with the eye for goal and is a pleasure to work with.
“We saw a glimpse of how good he can be at the end of last season and hopefully there is much more to come this season and beyond.”
