Moore keeping fingers crossed for safe Coyne return

GOALKEEPER Danny Coyne will be absent from the Tranmere Rovers training ground for most of the week.

Coyne has travelled with the Wales squad for a friendly international in Bulgaria tomorrow.

Manager Ronnie Moore said: “We are keeping our fingers crossed Danny comes back okay. He is due to return to the UK on Thursday and we won’t see him until Friday morning.

“It’s a concern that Wales have European qualifiers in September and October which would cause Danny to miss games for us if he is selected for their squad.

“That would leave us with only one senior goalkeeper in John Achterberg.

“It’s great for Danny and for the club to have the international recognition but it can be a headache for the manager.”

Moore reported fullback Robbie Stockdale, striker Chris Greenacre and winger Chris Shuker with knocks from the 2-0 win at Gillingham last Saturday.

Shuker’s thigh strain is the most serious of the injuries and is not due to join in training until Thursday, Moore said.
