TRANMERE secrued a late equaliser at Christie Park to keep alive hopes of making progress in the Pontin’s Holiday League Cup.
Morecambe took the lead in the 74th minute through Paul Lloyd after a defensive mix-up. But in the 92nd minute Danny Holmes floated a cross into the box and Terry Gornell headed home.
“We needed a win, but a draw was probably a fair result,” said Rovers coach Shaun Garnett. “They were two young teams and both tried to play decent football.”
TRANMERE ROVERS RESERVES: McWeeney, Holmes, Cresswell, A Taylor, Johnston, Henry, Jones, Behan, McAuley (Wilson 70), Gornell, Blundell. Subs: Kennedy, Moran, Richardson, Denton.
