Ankle op for John Mullin

TRANMERE are expecting to hear that John Mullin requires surgery to resolve a lingering ankle problem.

The experienced midfielder underwent a scan on the injury yesterday and manager Ronnie Moore said: “We think it is going to confirm that John has a spur growing on his ankle joint which is causing the discomfort. It will need to be shaved down.

“If the operation goes ahead then we are looking at another four to six weeks before he can play again.”

Mullin, a first-team regular for much of last season, has been beset by fitness problems since the summer.
