Achterberg hosts goalkeeping course for youngsters

TRANMERE are to run a goalkeeping course for eight to 16-year-olds in the school half-term holidays next month.

The course on Tuesday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 24 will be run under the supervision of Tranmere goalkeeping coach John Achterberg.

Coaching will focus on aspects of goalkeeping such as handling, diving, footwork, crosses and distribution.

The long-serving Achterberg previously ran goalkeeping courses for Wirral youngsters under his own name. The Dutchman signed a new contract with Rovers this summer, combining first-team playing duties with coaching keepers at all levels of the club.

Achterberg made his first league appearance of the season in the 1-1 draw at Cheltenham last Saturday, replacing Wales international Danny Coyne, who was injured.

An on-line application form for the course can be found on Tranmere’s official website: www.tranmererovers.co.uk
