Coyne facing late fitness check

TRANMERE manager Ronnie Moore will give a late fitness test to goalkeeper Danny Coyne before naming his side to face Northampton Town at Prenton Park this afternoon.

Wales international Coyne has been under treatment this week after missing the 1-1 draw with Cheltenham last Saturday with a calf strain.

Goalkeeping coach John Achterberg stands by to deputise once more.

Otherwise Rovers are likely to be unchanged as they seek to build on a six game unbeaten run.

Moore reckons wins over the Cobblers and Crewe Alexandra next Tuesday could lift Tranmere to the top of the League One table.

But he predicts Tranmere may have to be patient in breaking down a Northampton side well-equipped to defend in-depth and counter attack through the little and large striking partnership of Andy Kirk and Poul Hubertz.
