Youngsters surrender lead again to be shaken by defeat to Bury

YOUTH COACH Shaun Garnett admits the learning process is moving slowly for Tranmere under-19s.

Rovers were beaten 2-1 by Bury in the Youth Alliance Northwest Conference fixture at Lower Gigg Lane.

And once again Tranmere’s young line-up surrendered a lead. They were ahead on 17 minutes through Joel Richardson’s goal but allowed the Shakers to take the points with second-half goals on 52 and 83 minutes.

Garnett said: “We’ve lost the lead on half a dozen occasions this season.

“The lads played some decent football on Saturday and I felt they deserved to get something out of the game.

“But they need to be stronger mentally as well as physically.

“They have a lot to learn and they are improving only slowly.”

Tranmere play host to Shrewsbury Town in an Alliance fixture at Raby Vale on Saturday morning, kick-off 11am.
