Achterberg extends coaching sesions

JOHN ACHTERBERG is widening the net to help aspiring young goalkeepers across Merseyside and North Wales.

Tranmere’s goalkeeping coach plans to run his own goalkeeping coaching courses in Liverpool and Flint as well as the Wirral.

Achterberg explained: “When I have run courses on the Wirral, a few people said there was nothing similar being done in Liverpool. That’s why I want to do this new venue at Litherland. The more youngsters you see the greater the chance you have of finding new keepers and helping them to improve.”

The first the course will start at the Litherland Sports Centre next Wednesday, October 10. Courses at Bromborough run regularly on Wednesday nights and the course at Flint Town United will be held on Wednesday, October 31. Achterberg will also be involved in a goalkeeping course for eight to 16-year-olds run by Tranmere during the school holidays (October 23/24).

An online application form for the Tranmere course can be found on the club’s official website: www. tranmererovers.co.uk
