FRIDAY night may well be the traditional night for Tranmere Rovers but tonight the football action is across the hill at Cammell Laird’s Kirklands ground.
Lairds entertain old adversaries Alsager Town in the UniBond Presidents Cup second round (kick-off 7.45pm) and will be hoping to put the disappointments of early exits from the FA Cup and Trophy behind them in their quest to bring silverware to Kirklands. Thomas Rooney (knee) is still to start his first game but ex-Rover Alex Hay will hope to add to his goal tally which sees him as the league’s top scorer.
And in a special promotion for Tranmere Rovers fans Lairds are offering £3 admission for anyone who turns up wearing a Rovers shirt or scarf.
