A LACK of numbers at training will not deter Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore’s players from enjoying themselves this week.
Although there were no serious injuries from last Friday’s 3-0 win over Huddersfield, a series of knocks ensured that Rovers were restricted to having just 13 of their 22-man squad available.
However, Moore wants to turn a potential negative into a plus and has organised some ‘fun’ sessions.
He said: “Sometimes you can have a little more fun in that it’s not a pressure training morning in regards to the bodies that are there.
“You’d like to think that training is enjoyable but (in these circumstances) you like to have a bit of heading tennis, something different that you wouldn’t have when you’ve got the full squad to pick from and the lads enjoy that.”
The victory over the Terriers temporarily elevated Rovers into first place in the table but while their opponents are now hovering just three points above the relegation zone, Moore believes the win was down to his own team doing well rather than the Yorkshire club playing badly.
He said: “It was nice to get the win. The big thing for us was that in the past when we’ve had the opportunity to go top, we haven’t done it. At least this season, each time we’ve had an opportunity to grasp it, we’ve done that.”
