Davies will be all the more stronger on return - Moore

ALTHOUGH his road to recovery is likely to be a long one, manager Ronnie Moore has backed Steve Davies to come back as strong as ever after the left winger went under the knife this week.

The left winger had an operation for the cruciate ligament injury which threatened to curtail his season but despite some initial problems, Moore remains hopeful that the 21-year-old may still be able to play some part in Tranmere’s campaign.

He said: “Steve had his operation on Wednesday and got a reaction from the Morphine so he was in pain all night so it wasn’t a good start but he’s going to be fine.

“He’s going to come back stronger than ever.

“One thing about Steve is that he comes from good stock. His family are good and they’re behind him.

“These cruciates now, how many players have had them and play, and play and play – and play for their country.

“We hope that Steve can nick a game at the end of the season, that’s the aim for himself and Les Parry.

“We won’t push him into that but the lad has got undoubted quality and will be missed.”
