Goodison earns North West player of year accolade

TRANMERE skipper Ian Goodison was named League One player of the year at the North West Football Awards this week.

The Jamaican defender edged out Paul Warne of Oldham and Blackpool’s Andy Morrell in the online poll of fans in the region.

Goodison was also the Tranmere supporters’ player of the season for 2006-07.

Rovers picked up a commendation at the North West Awards in the best non-match-day use of a football ground category. It was recognition of Tranmere’s initiative in renting out the Prenton Park pitch for use by private supporters and business groups at the end of the season.
