Reports in Portugal have claimed Everton are also tracking Sporting Lisbon’s Serbian goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic as an understudy for Tim Howard.
Moyes has drawn up a list of several players as he looks to replace departed defensive midfield linchpin Lee Carsley.
Turkey international Mehmet Topal, a 22-year-old from Galatasaray who made four appearances in Euro 2008, is the latest under consideration, although he would command a significant transfer fee after signing a new five-year deal in April.
Despite working hard to determine possible newcomers, Everton have yet to bolster their squad with a major signing this summer.
But skipper Phil Neville believes it is only a matter time before reinforcements arrive at Goodison.
“I think every club is waiting for one other club to make a move,” he said to evertonTV.
“I think you’ll see one big transfer and then all of a sudden everyone else will start buying players.
“I don’t think Everton fans should worry too much about us signing too many players because of the quality in the squad.”
