Incidentally – brief rant – I do wish restaurants and cafes would include tasty low-cal versions of dishes you are unlikely to master as well at home. Perhaps Natasha could lead the way, for, as someone as photographed as her, would understand only too well the desire to keep the extra pounds at bay.
The spaghetti carbonara looked fantastic. It came topped with a lightly poached egg which could be left off on request.
Lucy and Karin were more than satisfied by the heap of pasta that arrived for them, coated in creamy sauce and liberally threaded with juicy strips of bacon. In fact, the bacon was so plentiful that Karin left a heap of it on her plate, admitting that the generous amount meant it was a touch over-salty for her taste.
The most impressive-looking dish was the club sandwich – a triple -decker affair stuffed with layers of succulent chicken and bacon and flanked by a mound of superior chips.
This was such a success that Kirsten has since returned for a repeat performance.
One of the tastiest aspects of the meal was the price, because during January the lunchtime food bill is slimmed down by 50%.
Overall, H is well worth a lunch time stop for nicely prepared favourites, in a relaxed and upbeat atmosphere. And as far as quality and value for money goes, it’s a chart topper.
